I cannot believe this is the last week of June - where did the month go?? Since June seemed to just fly by, I realized I needed to get on posting 4th of July recipes! So today I'm sharing (another!) easy chocolate covered recipe using pretzels. I think since it's warmed up I haven't been as inclined to turn the oven on, so I've been making no-bake treats.
To make these pretzels, I melted candy melts using the same method I describe here.
All you need is:
one (1) package of pretzel rods
one (1) bag of white candy melts
one (1) bag of blue candy melts
two (2) packages of Strawberry Pop Rocks
white & blue sprinkles
Once the chocolate was melted, I dipped each pretzel about halfway down and let the excess drip off. Then, I sprinkled with the Pop Rocks and sprinkles.
I then placed it in floral foam that I had covered in plastic wrap to dry. I already had holes in it from because I had used it before to hold these cake push-pops I made last year for 4th of July. I cut floral foam so it fit inside a red bucket I think I found in the dollar bin. It's now ready to go for whatever I need. I'v even covered up the red color with fabric if it didn't work for what I wanted to use it for.
I order to cover the green foam I used necklaces I purchased at the Dollar Store and just draped them between the pretzels to add some more color.
This was a quick and easy treat that will sure to be a hit with the kids, especially when they bite into it a realize it's covered in Pop Rocks.
